Linux@lemmy.ml•Has anyone tried Amber for writing bash scripts? Would you recommend it?
2·2 months agoThis is nice. Writing safe bash scripts includes avoiding implicit pitfalls. If the tool actively stops you from that it’s great. I wished this would have existed some years back.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linus Torvalds Spent Years Dismissing AI, Only to Vouch for It
794·3 months agoThe titel is clickbaitish. It’s good that Linus is open to new things and updates his views. As pointed out by the article he is no ai evangelist, but rather pragmatic.
I look at logs everyday and for me it’s good.
Regarding GNOME: I’m using it to on all my devices, low end to high end. I would suggest just trying it and see if you like it.

5·6 months agoGood that they fixed it. I consider containerizing applications less an option for security and rather an option for ease of deployment. Security should be achieved by other means (running under a different user, selinux, etc)

I actually would recommend it for that reason. It’s different from traditional desktops and polished at the same time, you dont need to fiddle with it. I think it’s good way to show people that alternative (to windows) doesnt mean bad.
It’s basically a read only mirror with links to the right place. That makes it easier to find or clone for many people

Dunno, my Linux boots that fast.
