CachyOS, EndeavourOS or plain arch.
Sick retro looking UI, nice job
The 5000 series from Dell is worse than the T series thinkpads. I’d say the 7000 series would be comparable.
I had a 7280 (IIRC) which was great for years, I really like the mobile Dell keyboards. I wouldn’t touch a 5410 though, rather a 7410.
So out of these two, the Thinkpad seems like the better deal.

Finally! I know what I’ll try over the weekend after I made backups 😇

Nah, it’s way easier. You can use makepkg and the Arch Build System.

You could also recompile your whole Arch system. No need for Gentoo.
I don’t understand what you try to convey to me. You can either buy games or pirate them, but I would still double check for malicious content. Even if you trust a site, there can still be viruses.
Don’t trust any piracy site, even the ones you trust.

Maayyyyybe because he is?
I mean, if far-left radicals call someone a fascist, that’s debatable. But everyone left of center? Maaaaaybe they’re onto something here?

Did you mean ricing?

The hardware in those things is underpowered to say the least.
yeah, 2…4GB of RAM, wtf

typst
I have used https://typst.app/universe/package/brilliant-cv/ in the past, can recommend. Customised it to my liking though, never cared to upload it.

Pivot tables are interesting with LibreOffice Calc, I’d say. They break in funny ways for me.
Still, glad I don’t have to use it that often.

You did your CV in Excel? Why not LaTeX or typst?

Try Baserow as Excel alternative. Sad that it doesn’t have a desktop version.

Sounds great 😊
I’ll try your project when I have the time (few weeks I guess).

Yeah please disclose that, pair programming is a fine idea with AI. I’m kind of against AI in general, but if you use it like you claim you do, sounds fine :)
Maybe you can add an explanation on which parts are LLM assisted and which aren’t, like it’s done with projects in !selfhosted@lemmy.world.
You can use a raw disk in VirtualBox. Just make sure you install an initrd and kernel which has drivers for all of your hardware. If you let something autodetect hardware, it will detect the virtual hardware, not the real one.
