Personally. I want an AI tag so I know to look more carefully.
I don’t mind AI speeding up a skilled engineer.
But I do mind a crypto bro, turned AI bro, with little experience, too eagerly advertising their vibe coded app.
Its too exhausting to audit everything I may be interested in and the AI tag would help me to budget and optimize my time.
Many of us are caught on the convenience of Plex and actively are working to replicate that with alternatives.
There are a few features that are not replicated anywhere else:
- the Plex magic proxy
- combined libraries
- Easy to use apps because of 1
Its a matter of not having these being more annoying than Plex is.
Vaultwarden handles the syncing for me.
However I do export backups on both my phone and laptop just in case.

5·8 months agoI wanted more Dropbox space. Self hosted Nextcloud when Docker became a thing.
Ended up getting a job in tech as I got better with containerization and better at programming from scripting and reading Data Structures books

Linux@lemmy.ml•Which distro is closest to 'GUI/UX for everything, absolutely no CLI' approach like Windows or Mac + and just works (ie passes LTT Linux test)English
5·8 months agoPlain old Fedora works great. My mom uses it and is fine with just the app store.
Game compatibility and overall performance will be mostly the same regardless of which Linux distro you choose.
Yes some gaming focused distros add a few small extra tweaks bit in the grand scheme of things it’s largely the same.
I wouldn’t suggest using SteamOS outside of steam hardware het as its not built for general purpose computers. Futhermore, I wouldn’t suggest using Bazzite (the steamos-like distro for general purpose computers) unless you were installing it on a gaming focused pc or htpc.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do you healthcheck your containers?English
3·10 months agoYou can read the Dockerfile for the HEALTHCHECK clause however not all have it as it’s been introduced in later docker versions.
You can also write your own using things like curl.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Lightweight and flexible: Bitwarden lite self-host deployment is now generally available | BitwardenEnglish
5·10 months agoI think it’s nice they offer their own lite version.
Just because there is a more popular OSS solution doesn’t mean they should be complacent and accept people will use Vaultwarden.
This shows they support their users directly instead of just letting their users fend for themselves.
They also could indirectly be blamed by some people using vaultwarden should an issue arise with it.
By publishing the first party lite version they can say “well you’re not using our supported version”. While still being friendly to self-hosters.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•moving from nextcloud to opencloudEnglish
152·11 months agoOpenCloud has made a conscious decision not to use relational databases and instead uses files to store metadata. This decision simplifies the system considerably and at the same time helps to improve scalability and system stability.
Well color me convinced. The most frustrating part about updating Nextcloud is fixing the database schema.
I don’t even want a database I just want a lightweight webui for manage my files from a browser.
OpenCloud fits the bill much better.

Its the outer ring of the tech circles still privvy to Brave.
