Maybe use ESPHome on to run the servo back and forth a few times and have an automation in Home Assistant to trigger the servo when it detects the toilet running. The hard part would probably be getting power near the toilet and connecting the servo to the handle in some fashion.

OP I think using PCPartPicker might show you tons of options for cases with 4+ drive capacity. If you want an older case just search ebay for the options you find.

You can also mount 2.5" drives into the 3.5: trays if you wanted. Ive had my R6 for years now and just bought a 2-pack of drive caddies as it filled up to the point that I now have enough to fill the whole case.

I have a Fractal Define 6 with room for (i think) 12 HDDs. They have tons of great options for HDD storage.

This really depends on what you’re watching it on. 480p can look fine on a phone but like garbage on a 65" OLED. I find that 720p is good for most shows that aren’t visually stunning (like Foundation) while most movies look fine in 1080p on the aforementioned OLED.

The newer Dell Optiplex micro like the 5070 come with more modern hardware, HDMI and all that. I was fortunate to get a couple for free from my BIL who works in IT and was given them as E-waste.

Just a slight clarification that their relay server is a fallback for when your server is inaccessible and still allows you to playback media at 1 or 2Mbps. Remote logins are handled by their authentication server which is separate, so that bulletpoint should be broken out into two separate items.

I used Emby for a couple years right before they went closed source which spawned Jellyfin and it was fine in some area (though not as polished) and better in others, but securely sharing remotely was always a huge hurdle which is not something they’ve found a solution for.

I have a lifetime pass so I have no reason to switch as of yet. Migrating people over like my elderly parents is going to be a nightmare if it ever comes to that.

My server is also running an Intel chip so maybe I’ll play around with using that instead. How is your performance? I have six cameras running but frigate only sees the lower bitrate streams as I have a standalone NVR in the mix already. All I use it for is object detection so that I can get notifications when someone approaches the house via Home Assistant.

I decided to try the LXC route as I also have Immich running in a separate LXC and wanted to share the Coral with both and AFAIK you can’t share resources between multiple VMs (though I’m pretty green with Proxmox/Linux based systems)
